If Jiu Jitsu is new to you this class is the perfect place to start. At PTT Richmond our beginners Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is all about fundamentally understanding all of the major positions of control that make up jiu jitsu. We we cover the basic goals and objectives of each position from both from an offensive and defensive perspective. You will learn basic defencive strategies, escapes, transitions, controls, submissions and much more in this class. In no time you'll have some tools to work with from all the core positions that make up Jiu Jitsu.

As a sport Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is constantly evolving. Techniques are modified, adapted and refined continually in order to defeat other athletes in competition. Because of the ever changing dynamic of the art it becomes so important to have a strong understanding of the basic principles of Jiu Jitsu such as, managing distance, base, posture and positional leverage. Once you understand these concepts and can apply them in practice you'll be able to get creative with the techniques you've learned and accelerate your learning.

Our goal in this class is to show new students how much fun they can have training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu while giving them the strong foundation they'll need to continue to progress at the next level. Train for fitness, train for self defence, train for fun or train to compete, all we ask is that you train!


In our all levels classes we explore a sequence of techniques that stem from the same root technique or position. Throughout the week we look further into these scenarios to give students a full picture from start to finish of how Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques chain together to become a complete weapon. The only way you will become proficient in this art is to apply yourself daily to the practice of it. That’s why for many of us Jiu Jitsu becomes more than a martial art, it becomes a lifestyle.


In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu we never stop learning, we never stop evolving and the journey is never over. Our training partners and teammates become our friends and family. At PTT Richmond we take care of each other in training; we train safe so we can train often.


Our advanced class caters to our more senior students and competitors. We learn to crawl before we walk and walk before we run. That's why it is highly recommended that you understand the basic movements, mechanics and consepts of Jiu Jitsu before attending this class. The advanced class moves at a faster pace, our focus is on drilling in high repetition with speed and it’s up to each student to keep up. If you aren't serious about training to improve then this class isn't for you.
